In a week where we have seen super star athletes fall and get a second chance, we also find out that one of our favorite NBA bad boys, Ron Artest, confessed to getting his buzz on during halftimes of NBA games.

In an interview for the upcoming Sporting News Magazine, Artest doesn’t hold his tongue one bit. He admitted that he drank alcohol during games as a member of the Chicago Bulls.

“I used to drink Hennessy … at halftime,” said Artest, who played
with the Bulls from 1999-2002 and now is with the Los Angeles Lakers. “I [kept it] in my locker. I’d just walk to the liquor store [near the stadium] and get it.”

Now for those individuals out there who want to act like they have never heard of this particular liquor before; Hennessy is a brand of cognac, which is a French variety of brandy. It contains 40 percent alcohol, and is reportedly North Korean leader Kim Jong-il’s drink of choice.

For some reason this doesn’t surprise me at all. In the words of ED Lover, C’mon Son! This is Ron Ron we’re talking about. The same person who ran in stands to beat some helpless man, during the brawl at the palace of auburn hills. The same person who will purposely foul the hell out of you, the same man who threw Trevor Ariza’s shoe in the stand during the game. And the same man to show up on the Jimmy Kemmel show in his drawls.

But I wouldn’t call Artest an alcoholic…I’ll just say he gets down with that boogie down brown…

We all have been watching football this season, and we have seen how NFL officials have taken tremendous efforts to protect QB’s. Penalties have been dished out left and right, and I would say about 50% of the time the penalty was uncalled for. But after watching the Redskins and Eagles game, it had me wondering whether officials are only protecting the NFL’s top QB’s.

On the Redskins’ final fourth-down play Sunday, Eagles defensive end Juqua Parker flung Jason Campbell to the ground after Campbell threw incomplete to Santana Moss. The quarterback remained there for a long time, face down. It seemed like a potential late hit, and the Fox announcers said as much during the telecast, suggesting that the Eagles were lucky they weren’t whistled. ESPN.com’s Matt Mosley called it a “horrendous no-call.”

After the game, during his weekly appearance on Comcast SportsNet’s Postgame Live, Campbell seemed to agree with that assessment, and said that everything “blacked out” for him after the hit. With all the focus on concussions this week–and with both of last year’s starting Super Bowl quarterbacks sitting out this week with the after-effects of head injuries–this will obviously be a closely watched situation this week.

Real quick before you get out of here…

You have to remember that the NFL has even implemented a new rule prohibiting defenders from attacking QB’s below he knees, AKA the “Tom Brady” rule. There have also been times where top QB’s have argued class on the field, and gotten them. Our good friend of the Miami Dolphins Joe Porter pointed this out to us a little earlier this season.

Its pretty obvious that the NFL is for the “Elite QB’s” (Brady, Manning, ect…..), If you saw the play u know if it were Brady or Manning, every official on the field and in the booth would have throw a flag…But It was JUST Jason Campbell

In the first regular season game against the Jacksonville Jaguars Young injured his knee and was expected to miss about 2 to 3 weeks. After some personal off the field issues following the injuries, in which Jeff Fisher called maturity issues, Fisher made the decision to go with Kerry Collins for the remain the starter for the rest of the season. Young would be the backup quarterback

Coming into this season, the Titans where picked to be one of the top teams in the NFL. After losing the season opener to the Super bowl Steelers, many would say that, someone had to lose. But it didn’t end there. The Titans began the season 0-6 before owner Bud Ryan demanded that Vince Young be placed into the starting line-up.

Well let’s just say that everyone deserves a second chance…

Since the QB move from Collins to Young, the titans are 5-0 under Young and have a great chance of running the table and making a late push into the playoffs.

Young not only has led his team to a 5-6 record after starting 0-6, but he has opened the eyes of many with his play and those eyes opened a little wider after his courageous 99 yard TD drive.

Vince Young engineered this drive beautifully, converting on 3 fourth downs and it more than made up for his stumble at the end of the first half. He stayed alive on the final play of the half instead of going down when he was in position to be sacked, extending a play that ran out the clock and erasing a chance for the team to call a timeout and kick a field goal.
But with two minutes left in the game he marched his team down the field in such a poised manner. Young definitely proved that he has grown up and is ready to be a starter in this league for years to come. Not to mention that he was 27/43 387 Yards 1 Touchdown 0 INT

Throughout Shaquille O’Neil‘s career there has been several stories released about the All Star Center, both good and bad. But his latest act has to be at the top of his good list. Shaq paid for a funeral of 5 year old Shaniya Davis in Fayetteville NC, after being touched by the National coverage surrounding Shaniya after she was kidnapped and killed.

“I was sitting at home watching it on the news and the story brought a tear to my eye,” O’Neal told The Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper

After hearing this story Shaq got in touched with the family of the little girl to see if there was anything he could to do to help out the family in their time of morning.

A little more than 2,000 people showed up to the funeral on Nov. 22.

Shaniya’s mother, Antionette Davis, reported the child missing six days earlier. She is charged with human trafficking and child abuse involving prostitution. Mario McNeill is charged with murder, rape and kidnapping in this case.

Many will argue that the Detroit Lions are part of Thanksgiving history, just as the Macy’s Day Parade in NYC. But over the past few years the Lions have got pushed around the field and has been part of a game that nobody really has interest to watch. Now word is going around that they should lose their right of hosting Thanksgiving games every year due to their lack of competitiveness.

If you’re all caught up with tradition, I guess you’ll continue want to see the Lions play since they have been playing since 1934. The bright side to Lions playing is that they have sold out every game since 1992, even though they have been pretty bad since then. But tradition is tradition I guess…

I personally dont care who plays on Thanksgiving. Lions have been playing all my life and I have just become accustomed to seeing them lose each year. Plus they have a young team with alot of bright spots to look forward to with their future, so you never know, they might be a very competitive in the next few years.

The stage has been set and every boxing fan in the world is waiting for the date when Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. will meet, for what some will call, the fight of the decade. How did we get to this point? Back in September, following Mayweather’s unanimous decision win over Juan Manuel Marquez, his manager and close friend Leonard Ellerbe said that Pacquiao was the next obvious choice from a marketing standpoint. And this past Saturday Pacquiao made a statement to the boxing world.

This past Saturday night, Floyd beat up on Marquez like the Pat beat the Titans earlier this season. It was pure dominance showed on the behalf of Manny knocking Cotto down two times, and eventually having the fight stopped in the 12th round.

Right now Pacquiao and Mayweather are the two biggest names in the sport and the two guys that are vying for the pound-for-pound title out there in the world. Mayweather is undefeated (40-0, 25 KO) is the tactical defender, whose elusive ability is often referred to as poetry in motion; always the type of fighter that looks to score points and attend a post-fight press conference free of damage. Pacquiao is on a breathtaking run of dominance (50-3-2, 38 KO) is the aggressor, who has shown a willingness to take a punch to give one, as well as a constant desire to finish fights even when he’s well ahead on a scorecard.

We can all speculate what should happen and what we want to happen, but at the end of the day it all is going to come down to Mayweather. Pacquiao has already said that he wants Mayeatheher, click here to hear what Pacquiao had to say. But Floyd has not given any signs pointing to this fight happening. We all know that for this fight to happen it will have to be negotiated well, and Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach has already said that If Floyd wants a 65/35 split, he’s not going to get that.

If the fight never happens, I feel it is safe to say that if Floyd retires with an undefeated record you will have to put and question mark by that because he didn’t fight the best out there. To be perfectly honest, I think that Mayweather is a bit afraid of the chance of losing. If you look at boxing history of all of the greatest, From Ali to Jones Jr. they have left the sport with a loss. Maybe Mayweather can make some history of his own, but that will only happen if he takes the fight

Earlier this week the Allen Iverson and the Memphis Grizzlies came to a mutual agreement to terminate his current contract. this has all came after he has played three games with the franchise this season and complaining about his role coming off the bench, and also taking a leave of absence from the team due to family issues.

Now according to rumors circulating around the league, the Answer may have one last answer…Where??? In the Big Apple. The New York Knicks have been discussing the possibilities of bringing the 10 time All Star onboard to their franchise who is struggling early on this season. Many would wonder why someone of Iverson’s caliber, this late in his career would want to join a team that is not a contender. You can argue that there are no contenders out there that are willing to pull the trigger on him, seeing how his past few years have turned out with Denver, Detroit and Memphis.

There has even been rumors that AI will even retire…well let’s just say that is only a rumor. According to yahoo sports Iverson’s personal manager stated that AI fully intends to resume his NBA career, and preferably this season. Until then he will be working out every day until he hears from someone

But there is another reason that Iverson may not be ready to hang it up so fast, a $6 Million dollar reason according to some sources. When Iverson came into the NBA in 1996 he was issued a 10 year contract with Reebok worth $50 Million. After he received the league’s MVP in 2001, his shoe contract was renegotiated for a lifetime deal paying Iverson about $6 Million per year for the rest of his professional career. Reebok has plans in the near future to re-release one of Iverson’s most sought after shoes, the Reebok Question which he wore en route to his Rookie of the Year honors.

Last year AI pulled in $20.8 Million compared to a $3 Million deal he would have got if he would have stayed with Memphis for the rest of the year.

The annual 8 figure salary may be gone, but at $6 Million a season to lace up his sneakers, don’t expect AI to be so quick to hang up his kicks

The web site Young, Black & Fabulous reported last week that Shaq and Govan had become involved, posting alleged emails between Govan and the 7’1″ center. One of the emails, allegedly from Govan, said she would meet with Shaq “as long as u taste me and make me cum LOL.” See all of the emails here.

Events have continued to unfold this week. TMZ reported yesterday that Shaq’s wife, Shaunie O’Neal, traveled to California to seek legal separation from the Cavs center.

Im just surprised that game officials didn’t stop her after the first punch. Apparently Lambert’s has anger management issues, she may needs to take up MMA and not soccer.

“Go look at my resume and that will show you that I’m not a sixth man,” Iverson said. “I don’t think it has anything to do with me being selfish. It’s just who I am. I don’t want to change what gave me all the success that I’ve had since I’ve been in this league.”

Well well well…After his first game in Memphis Allen Iverson is complaining once again. You would think that he would like to work is way into their starting rotation after coming off of a hamstring injury. But Lionel does need to start him eventually over Connely, but AI has to realize that he cant jump right back into things.

He should have went to the Bobcats, back with coach Brown. That team needs a scorer desperately and he would have gotten a shot to play his heart out there. In Memphis you have Gay, Mayo, and Randolph, who are all scorers so I don’t why hes complaining. Did he actually think he’d get playing time as if he were the franchise player?? Memphis most likely to the Allstar only for ticket sales to bump up and to have a “veteran presence” for the young guns on the team. I hate to say it but I don’t have a good feeling about this Memphis experiment
